Have you ever found yourself at a sporting event wondering, “Where in the world did that girl get her sports fan apparel?” I have loved sports for my entire life and have always struggled to find cute yet affordable sports fan apparel. For whatever reason, many of the “official” women’s clothing lines created by sports teams, are bright pink, bedazzled ugliness. Not to mention, they usually come with a hefty price tag. Hence why I am excited to share my list of clothing brands that sell cute, legit women’s professional and collegiate sports apparel at a fair price!
1. Victoria’s Secret
The Pink Collegiate Collection is a pretty well-known source of cute sports fan fashion. The problem with that? Lots of people have it. When the collection first released there were limited schools to select from, however, over the years Victoria’s Secret has continued to expand their collection and now includes a large variety of universities.
2. Tailgate by American Eagle Outfitters
Tailgate by American Eagle Outfitters has a number of different collections, some of which are not sports apparel. As far as men’s and women’s sports team apparel, they sell Collegiate, MLB, NBA, and NFL collections. All of the different sportswear collections make for a large online inventory and a one-stop-shop for all of your favorite fan gear. They also tend to have more trendy and younger sportswear designs. Not to mention, discounted sports clothing can be found at all times in their clearance section!
3. Junk Food Clothing
Junk Food Clothing sells both NFL and NBA sports apparel collections for women. Although Junk Food is a little pricier than some of the other retailers on this list, they are one of my favorites due to their more vintage sports apparel designs. I like the more classic sports apparel looks they offer and I like knowing that I never have to worry about running into something pink and bedazzled. Make sure to scope out the sale section to see if any of your team’s gear is marked down. Urban Outfitters also carries this brand so keep your eye out in their sale section as well.
4. Mitchell & Ness
Mitchell & Ness sports apparel is going to come with a higher price tag due to it’s higher quality pieces. Their women’s sports apparel collections include NBA, NFL & MSL. I would say this brand gears towards more towards men’s sports gear, but they have really stepped up their women’s sports apparel game in recent years. They also sell exclusive men’s sports jerseys that can be work for a cute, oversized look!
5. Target’s Fan Shop Clothing
The best thing about Target’s Fan Shop is that they have fan gear available for every sport’s team in almost all of the different professional sports leagues- NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, NCAA, MLS, and FIFA. I will admit that Target’s Fan Shop is not my favorite place to shop for sport’s apparel because I find some of their pieces to be of cheap quality and tacky design. However, when I am going to a one-time sporting event, I like looking through their fan shop because the prices are fair and some of their basics are pretty cute.
6. Locker Room by Lids from Macy’s
One of the best and worst things about shopping at department stores is the amount of retail they have available. Macy’s has so many different sports apparel options for all of the different collegiate and professional sports leagues that it can be overwhelming. I highly encourage narrowing down your search through the different filter options available.
7. Touch by Alyssa Milano from Fanatics
Alyssa Milano created the brand, Touch, to bring cute sports apparel options to women. Her sports apparel line can be purchased through multiple retailers. Linked is the online store, Fanatics, that hosts her women’s sports apparel line in addition to a lot of other sports fan apparel.
8. UNRL
I spent my freshman and sophomore years at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Hence, why UNRL made the cut for this list. This small, Minnesota based hockey clothing brand has a limited amount of collegiate apparel for the midwest region. However, I wanted to share because their clothing brand is super cute, not to mention, UMD is the current Natty Champ!
9. Tailgating Tents
If you have ever been to a big sporting event, you have probably participated in tailgating. Some of my absolute FAVORITE sports apparel has been purchased at tailgating tents. Most of the apparel you will find sold at tailgating tents are punny t-shirts and sports fan accessories. My best advice is that if you find something you like, buy it! You most likely will not be able to find this merchandise anywhere in-store or online.
10. Thrift Shop
This is a fashion hack for anyone looking to not break the bank on sports fan apparel. It’s fun to buy a few vintage sports clothing pieces from Goodwill or your local thrift shop and alter them to fit your own style. For example, I found some vintage crewneck sweatshirts and turned them into trendy cutoffs. Plus, if your alterations go wrong, you aren’t out very much money!
